Looking at the title of this thread, I thought, "Have you ever heard of this team called the Chicago Cubs?". I mean, seriously. If any team can get you excited with anticipation only to choke at the most excrutiatingly frustratring moment, it's the Cubs! But then again, the Red Sox did it...
But if the Cubs win the World Series, I'm going to stock up on food and water and buy an arsenal of weapons, because the end of the world is sure to follow!

Should they celebrate the division win if it happens? There's an article today on the Tribune about it. Pretty interesting.
I also think this is the year, but last time I said that they went on that horrific slide. Don't want to jiinx them anymore  |

It's Still The Cubs
They'll win the division, but little else. They may have a good enough team and one of the game's finest managers, but history will just keep repeating itself. I realize ninety-nine years is an agonizingly looooooooong wait, but the playoffs are two-tiered nowadays before anyone advances to the World Series. And teams that have had the best record in their respective leagues haven't always gone to the Series, either, especially this decade. With the Cubs, it's always something every year, even if there is no goat or a chap named Steve Bartman this time around.
And with the Cubs, there's always next year.  |
