Considering job position - any input? (Chicago: school, university, salary)

Hey all,
I'm anticipating an offer for a job from the University of Chicago any day now (my would-be boss told me she just had to speak with the rest of my references.) I grew up in the suburbs, and will be moving back after four years in Iowa. Does anyone here work for U of C? If so, can you give me some insight into the culture, if you would recommend taking a job there? I'm doing my best to figure out their payscale for the purpose of salary negotiations too, so if anyone has any insight into that, it would be much appreciated

And what would your position be? That is going to greatly impact your salary.

It's a staff position in a professional school - equivalent to assistant director according to my interviewer, although the title is something different (created by HR, again, according to my interviewer). On the web site, the pay range for this job is listed as E30, but you have to be an employee to log in and see what that means.
