This is a must read for all, our notorious senator Meeks wants to bring 6,000 inner city people to the opening playoff game for the Cubs.

Daley to Meeks: Don't hold protest at Cubs game :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Education (http://www.suntimes.com/news/education/1182774,skul092508.article - broken link)

Edit: Meant to say Cubs in title, my fault.

Gee, newsflash: Meeks is a media-stunt AttentionWhore. Like, stop the presses or something.

BTW, you still have time to edit the title if I'm not mistaken.

Another Newsflash: Wrigley Field is in the "inner city", and many "inner city people" will be attending the games. You really need to find a new code word for poor black people. Most of the old "inner city" neighborhoods have been gentrified.

Good for him! Castro needs to go!

But seriously, I agree with what he is trying to do but his tactics are idiotic. I can't wait for Baby Boomers who are still attached to outdated political tactics to go away.

"We’ve waited 100 years to have [school] funding reform. I’m surprised that the mayor . . . would put more emphasis on a game than on peoples’ lives. These kids are being MISEDUCATED. They’re killing each other. A game is not more important than the future of public school children," Meeks said.

Miseducated? Hmmm. It sounds to me Mr. Meeks is rather uneducated. Sorry Mr. Meeks, I do not speak Ebonics.

If this guy ends up ruining the Cubs' chance of winning after 100 freakin years, I'm gonna be pissed. And I'm not even into baseball.

It just annoys me what some people will do to get attention.

And EVERYONE knows just how big this is. Even if your a Sox fan, I would think that most Chicagoans would like to see them win this year!

The only people who can ruin the Cub's chances of winning are the Cubs, don't start looking for a scapegoat before the series even begins.

Wrong. I don't care if they win or lose. The only team that is on my radar is the one that is choking themselves out of the playoffs.

Umm, "miseducate" is a word, Avenger. Not a commonly used one, but a word, nonetheless. Rev. Meeks has a college degree, so he is educated. He doesn't always use the best grammar, but one wrong word does not make one uneducated.

^^It sure is! In fact, a very famous John F. Kennedy quote is: "A child miseducated, is a child lost."

Well they won't have tickets, so it's not going to bother me.
