I haven't really looked at any offseason options yet. My disagreement is more with my belief that a speedy leadoff man is one of the most over-hyped 'needs' in baseball.

The Sox are going to need to make some changes, likely involving a reduction in one of the Big Three (maybe a trade of Dye). But as long as they have someone with decent OBP in the leadoff position, they'll be fine at that spot.

Perhaps MLB would best be served by setting up a two team division: Cubs and White Sox. The battle would be intense. And at least, we'd get one team to be a winner all the time.

Well if the Sox stink, and they beat the Cubs..... What does that make the Cubs?

For the life of me I still cannot seem to figure out why Sox fans seem to get more joy out of beating the Cubs or making favorable comparisons with the Cubs than big accomplishments like sweeping the Tigers/Twins who they now trail in their division. To be fair, it is not all the Sox fans I know, but there is definitely a good amount of them out there. I just don't understand it because it is not simply a given that this will occur with two teams in one city. There are very few Yankees fans that get more excited about beating the Mets than the Red Sox, and I doubt there very many Dodgers fans that would get more joy out of sweeping the Angels than the Giants. I know this has been discussed thuroughly on this thread but I still can't seem to make sense of these "at least we are only the second ****tiest team along the CTA red line" Sox fans, and they just keep poping up.
