My family will be downtown Chicago on the weekend of the 6th. We want to get into the Christmas spirit. What hotels does some on here recommend based upon Christmas atmosphere? Thank you.

Anything in the River North/Mag Mile area will def. get you ready for Christmas. The Mag Mile is pretty freaking magnificent during Christmas. The lights are beautiful, it'll be cold as hell, possibly with snow, and the crowds will be crushing.

I really love the Hotel Intercontinental, it is right on Michigan Ave. and you are just steps away from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. A short walk north will take you to all of my favorite places to shop. Also, lots of great boutiques on Oak St., there's Water Tower Place (with the new American Girl Store) and you can take a carriage ride in that area.

Also, check out the market in Daley Plaza, skating at Millenium Park and the windows at Macy's in Marshall Field's.

Have a great time!
