what's with the area around diversey, north, ashland and clybourn (Chicago: houses, neighborhoods)

Is the area bordering diversey, north, ashland and clybourn considered an official part of Lincoln Park, either by local residents or the city? y and y not?

Anything east of the river between North and Diversey is Lincoln Park. So yes, the Clybourn corridor between North and Diversey is considered Lincoln Park.

I heard the same thing from a lot of my neighbors. When they talk about west of ashland, they dont consider it part of lincoln park. And that's from long term lincoln park residents. I began to suspect that grouping that area into Lincoln park is just the kind of tactics that realtors use to sell houses or landlords trying to charge outrageous rents on their not-so-lincoln-park properties.

About half of "Lathrop Homes" are in the Lincoln Park "Community" with some in the North Center "Community." The Chicago Community areas have been in place for about 80 years.

Only 3 blocks of Ashland is in Lincoln Park, so yeah, anything west of Ashland is liable to not actually be in Lincoln Park.

That area is properly called the Clybourn (Industrial) Corridor-but it is in the Lincoln Park community. Therefore either name or both is appropriate.

No, I'm not wrong about that, and Fullerton/Ashland/Clybourn is part of Lincoln Park despite your protestations to the contrary.

Drover's right. The officially recognized Lincoln Park Community Area is much bigger than people realize. I don't think most people considered the Clyborn Corridor part of the Lincoln Park neighborhood years ago, but it's been part of the Community Area for decades. Hardly anyone lived over there until recently because it was industrial. But now with all of the shops and restaurants, it's clearly been swallowed up into the Lincoln Park conglomeration as far as perception is concerned.

A friend of mine calls that area "Me Town", and I think that's an appropriate characterization.

I love the way some people bicker about this stuff as if it's a matter of debate.

Furthermore, the isn't an area bordered by Diversey, Ashland, Clybourn, and North Ave. Diversey, Ashland, and Clybourn make a triangle that ends just south of Fullerton. That actual triangle is mostly residential, except for West of the Metra tracks, where there's a Menard's and some other stuff.

The river is the western border of Lincoln Park, so anything west or south of that isn't Lincoln Park.

Drover, Lookout, and Avenger are all, of course, correct.
