Question Chicago restaurant job

I am thinking about moving to Chicago from New York City. I have worked at the same world-renown restaurant for 15 years. I have managed the last 3 years. I love this job but we can't stay here because the cost of living is getting ridiculous and I am married with two small children. We want to move to Chicago because we have other opportunities and support in Chicago. I need a restaurant manager job. I would love to work in an upscale casual restaurant like the one I work at now, but am open to other types of restaurants. In addition to using my own personal connections, what other avenues can I use to find as many potential leads as possible. Also, How do I go about securing a job before I leave?

Jobs are tight right now, even though you may see a lot of ads, there is a lot of competition in the restaurant business. I've known a few very well-qualified and connected people that took a looong time to secure something. Not trying to discourage you, but however long you think it will take, give yourself a bit longer. Good luck!
