There is a pitifully weak 2" or so here in the western burbs, and I believe O' Hare only got a little over 3" if I heard correctly. Lots of schools were called off for absolutely nothing. Oh well, Im home with my son today, we just might have to strap on the boots and go sledding or something.

It is not the size of the snowfall-it is where the snow falls.

We got maybe 2" in Uptown. Combined with the snow from Tuesday there's maybe 4" max on the ground.
Pathetic storm! I swear Chicago has a bubble around it, we never get anything more than 6" at the very most. I think the last time we got a good 10" was something like 5 years ago.

As I stated in one of my other posts on another topic, I will agree this area has something about it that causes storms to avoid it like the plauge. Now here it was, 19 frickin degrees outside, the storm was a direct hit on Orland and Tinley Park as well as the rest of the area, so whats it do? It F-ing RAINS! I mean seriously WTF! I now live in a giant ice cube. The crap is so hard that you can drive on it and your car won't even sink into it. Orland has about 3 inches of this schit and Tinley has about 2. Areas like Sauk Village got nothing at all, just a plain old rain storm.
I just got done watching Skilling and he is full of lots of stinky brown stuff! Originally he said the storm was due in at 3PM, then he changed it to 7PM, then at the 9PM forecast last night he says, "for those of you that thought it should have started by now and left work early, you weren't listening because I never said it would start by now" WTF! YES YOU DID YOU LIAR! Anyways, I found it funny to watch his color coded radar and you can clearly see how the pink meaning freezing rain juts way north all of a sudden once the storm gets east of Joliet causing areas that are much further north to still get rain. Morris got more snow than the south side of Chicago. Whats up with that? Morris is way further south and west than the Midway area proving that this area is throwing off ALOT of heat to actually alter the rain snow line.
Anyways, general rule of thumb, storms like that one that swing up out of the south typically don't bring snow with them to this area unless you live north of about Touhy or Dempster. Typically the only storms that bring snow here are those that come down out of Canada (Alberta Clippers), so if you're hoping for a huge snow event like you would get in NY State or the western burbs of Boston, you are S.O.L.

Now, now people... lets not blame Skilling. Everyone knows he's an incredible meteorologist, perhaps the best in the country. People get pissed at meteorologists all the time, and thats not fair. He's predicting the WEATHER, folks. It has never been nor will ever, ever be an exact science. Wind and storms do whatever they darn well please, its impossible to predict what will happen. Ill tell you what though, he did nail the regions that would receive ice just perfectly. He also predicted the start of the storm almost spot-on, too. However, the storm decided to drop a lot less snow than expected, big deal. Most of you should be happy for that. lol
Bottom line is that Skilling is an AMAZING meteorologist, cut him some slack.
