Where to spend the christmas?
I and my husband's family are not in chicago and we don't have kid. He only had one-day off on 25th. What we can do to make our christmas special?

Enjoy the day off. Most everything is closed christmas day. There's really not much you can do except relax.

Officailly even the Lincoln Park Zoo is closed Christmas Day. I guess they want to give the employees a break.
If you want to something indoors the various churches near N. Michigan Ave and the greater Loop all make an effort to have stuff that is welcoming to all.

Everything pretty much stops, save for a few restaurants, hotels, and grocery stores, might be a good time to soak in the quiet...

Even if you're not particularly religious, many of the old Churches in Chicago are worth checking out from an architectural perspective... The Catholic churches are particularly spectacular, and they won't try too much to "suck you in".

xmas day
you could go to an expensive hotel and have one drink - something special - a glass of champagne or something
you could walk along the boardwalk and stop in a hotel for a hot chocolate
you could see if there's any place to go ice skating - navy pier, perhaps?

Some Chinese restaurants should be open...? Movie theaters, too. How about dinner at a Chinese restaurant and then a movie? That's what some of my Jewish friends do on Christmas.
