Default New Year's Day activities

Well, I was wondering if anyone knows of anything fun to do on New Year's Day, until the bowl games get started. The girl and I are going to be new in town, and would like to get out of the house and take a break from unpacking.

We were thinking about going to the Winter Classic hockey game, until we saw the ticket prices, so that's out.

P.S. We'll be living in Bucktown, if that helps any.

New Years Day will be the one time I'm excited on being in Wrigleyville bars during game day. They'll have a bunch of things going outside the stadium too. In fact, going to the area but watching in a bar will probably end up better than paying $300 for the tix themselves.
