Moving to Logan Square, questions...
Looking to purchase in Logan Square, can I get some honest feedback?
3 addresses, how do these neighborhoods look?
1856 Sawyer
2704 W. cortland
2649 Kedzie
I'm looking to know what these areas are like and if anyone has any feedback on moving to the area.
Thanks in advance!

Thanks for doing the work to look up those threads,Drover. I was going to, but I ended up too tired to do it.

I can best comment on the Kedzie address, living quite close to there. From an amenity standpoint, it's a great location - - the El is right there, buses, restaurants, liquor store, dry cleaners, etc. You can be on the Kennedy in three minutes.
Safety-wise, I haven't had any problems because there are always people around. I did witness some serious sketch in a very nearby alley, but just turned and walked the other way.
My biggest problem with the address is that Kedzie is quite a busy, noisy street. I'd much much prefer to live just one block east on Troy.
When we were looking to rent, I looked at apartments near the address on Cortland. Knowing that I was going to have to walk home from the El at night, I didn't feel nearly as comfortable in that area as I do near the Kedzie address. And there didn't seem to be as many shops and restaurants within a few blocks.

excellent choices!
I have to post because it's in my screenname and what not. U're looking at 3 great addresses. The only thing I would say is the Kedzie one is a little far from the line, BUT it is also right next to streetside One of my favs.

"The Kedzie one is a little far from the line?" Which line are you talking about? If you mean the Blue Line, the Kedzie address is about a block away and is by far the closest of the three to a Blue Line station.

To be honest I would not live in at any of those addresses if I had a choice.

What is wrong with those addresses? I actually like that part of Logan Square, though I prefer the parts closer to Bucktown even more. Kedzie has some nice restaurants just north of Milwaukee and as other posters noted good access to the blue line.

Not sure about the Sawyer address, but I am familiar with the other two. Both are fine, but the Kedzie address is closer to the Blue Line as well as restaurants and shops.
The area around the Cortland address can seem a little gritty, but the area is fine. I take my daughter to a park a block or so from there and used to walk along that stretch of Rockwell late at night quite a bit. The worst thing I've seen is police responding to a domestic disturbance.

The Sawyer address is probably the sketchiest area. It's near Kedzie & Armitage, and it gets rough west of Kedzie on Armitage. The 2649 N. Kedzie address is probably the best one.
