country dancing in chicago? (Waukegan, Berwyn: neighborhood, school, bars)

My friend's cousin and her husband are in Chicago on vacation from Europe. They both used to be professional dancers and now they teach dance to little kids, anyway they're interested in different dances from around the world and asked us if we could take them somewhere in Chicago where they could see line or country dancing...anyone have any clue as to some bars or whatnot where they could see people doing this in Chicago?

I can think of Cadillac Ranch in Barlett. Thats about 35 miles west-northwest of downtown.
There is the Sundance Saloon somewhere in Lake County. Either Waukegan or Mundelein I believe

The Willowbrook ballroom in Willow Springs I believe has country/line dancing night still.

In the city:

Joes bar on west Weed. St. has country music, although I don't know about dancing
There someplace called Delilahs on N. Lincoln

Now . . . if you want to talk Americana and alt country and not your typical hard-core "pure country" then Chicago has lots of options. But it sounds like you are looking for that, otherwise I would recommend:

Fitzgeralds in Berwyn, the Hideout, Old Town School of folk music, and several other places. But if you're looking for country-line dancing then your choices are few.

Carol's used to be pretty rough. I haven't been in there in years, but it's always had a reputation for being a gritty hillbilly joint for the Appalachians who settled Uptown decades ago. I know it has been slightly yuppified in recent years, but it may not be the kind of thing your European friends are wanting to see. It's still a dive in a slightly rough neighborhood.

No. Delilahs is a punk/metal bar that is getting the hipster element a bit now. Nobody line dances country there. The only line dancing that happens is when people are waiting in line to the pisser.

Joe's on Weed street is not a place I would recommend either unless you want to hang out with a bunch of frat boys and stuck up chicks (on the days when they do not have a rock concert.)

Ill check out the places mentioned so far online and see if they have any specific nights for country dancing.

The only place that came to my mind was Carol's as well but i dont really know if any dancing happens there

There is line dancing at Carol's, at least was last year or so when I last went.

It's reputation among my friends is as a fun place with an atmosphere you won't see elsewhere in Chicago. If Europeans are spooked by the place then you politely leave. Though I cannot see why they would.
