Has anyone ever lost the letter designating you as an alternate juror? Is there a number I can call, or do I need information from the letter? I'm supposed to be an alternate juror either Monday or Tuesday in Evanston, IL. Any info would be appreciated.

Evanston? If you're talking Cook County Jury Duty, I don't think there's a courthouse in Evanston. There's a courthouse in Skokie and one in Rolling Meadows. All the other courthouses are in the city, west, or south of the city.

Call Jury Administration at (312) 603-JURY [5879] weekdays during business hours to speak to a real person. Otherwise, call 312-603-5950 after 4:30 p.m. on the business day before your service date to see if you have to show.

I did alternate duty a few weeks ago in Maywood. A bit of a pain to get there, but at least they let us go by 10:30 when they determined they didn't need any of us, so we took our checks and left.

Thanks so much. I tried the Skokie location - and it looks like I'm not going to be called in. I will, however, call the other number on Monday to make sure that I chose the correct location.

You're a godsend - thanks so much for your help!
