I'd never heard of the place, despite living in the city where it is supposedly famous, until I saw the Conan skit. I thought the bit was hilarious, but that's all I know of it. I figured they would have drawn a ton of business after that. What was the reason for their license being suspended?

One time at Wiener's Circle I saw a guy from Buffalo order a dog with mayo and ketchup. He said it was good.

How can this be good?

It's been dead for 3 1/2 years. I stand by the necro classification.

I had something here once a couple of years ago. Sadly, I was drunk and cannot remember. Probably a good thing. I remember hearing that if you ordered a "chocolate shake," it resulted in getting a top-nude shimmy show from one of the workers?

Not much mention of the food in this thread, except Avengefires dislike.

I only have eaten at WC one time, and I think I had a burger, not a dog, but I remember the food being quite good, for what it is, a fast food burger/fries/hot dog joint.

Since it hasn't been said, I thought the food was great.

The fries are the kind cut with the skin still on, I love that, the burger was tasty, in my limited experience of 1 visit, it was very good cheap eats.

That's not what they're known for. I would assume that their food is about the same as 90% of the hot dog stands that seem to be on every corner in Chicago, i.e. neither horrible nor amazing. Hence the gimmick to make them stand out. It appears to work for them.

Once upon a time they were actually just a place known for a decent "charburger" (yes, that was in the parlance in the late 80s) and fries glopped with tasty cheese. When did the foul-mouth bit actually start?

Maybe not, but they're a restaurant so it makes sense to wonder.
