Your bluntness is a little much; but I agree. Some people are not born with the same intelligence, and will simply not be able to rise to high levels in society. Also, others are less inclined to work hard and they will fail; but this is my point.

By being brought up in Catholic schools, I was destined to, at the very least, graduate high school. ANd thus, I was on a path of contributing to society in at least a somewhat positive way. Why was this? Because that was my environment. If I had been born to a poor black family in the inner city I would have been screwed. Not entirley, but I would have had a lot lesser chance of being successful. Don't you think this is unfair? It is simply a matter of luck what family you are born into.

This is what bothers me. I really wish we could capture the younger people before they can be disenchanted by their lives. Part of me doesn't think this is possible; because what really set me up for success were my parents. And we all know the vast majority of individuals in the inner city are not properly equipped to be good parents, nor are they inclined to do so.

I dont' think it is ok to just accept there are bad areas, and let people rot. This is not ok. I mean I just think of other places in the U.S. and there are so many nicer places than what Chicago is on the Southside. And, I think this can be fixed. It just can be. Alot worst things have been overcome in this world.

Like I said before, does anybody have any suggestions on how I can become involved with city politics/government? To, at least, let myself stop preaching and do something about these problems that upset me.

I recently read about how in the 60s-70s realtors would hire scary looking blacks to pose as new residents entering/leaving houses. They would then take pictures of them and parade the pictures around to neighborhood residents urging them to get it before it was too late.

If anyone doubts this I can give a solid reference.

I have never heard the real estate perspective before. However, I can totally see how all tha toccurs. I cannot think of a larger group of unprofessional professionals. So many of those people are so untrustworthy it is scary. Obviously, this is generalizing. But I cannot think of a time in my life when I was more disappointed in a group of professionals, then wehn I went out trying to find a palce to buy.

Sweetheart, a huge majority of the shootings in Chicago are done by blacks or hispanics shooting each other.

The number of whites going around shooting each other in Chicago is miniscule.

Avengerfire's comment is not that big of a deal. There are worse things. Maybe, "sweetheart" was unnecessary, but Avengerfire makes a good point.

It is almost entirely blacks and hispanics that are driving around shooting each other, not whites or asians.

White shootings are much much less, even including domestic situations. Whites involved in gang shootings are almost non-existent.
