Where do the loss of heavy industry, flight of customer service, new service economy, environmental pollution and the racial divide figure in what destroyed America?

And if you take the list seriously (which is hard to do because it is sublimely off topic), one is an effect (the guilt stuff) and the other two are non-partisan band-aids. Its then hard to say how stuff like that could 'destroy' America and it is certainly impossible to assess guilt. That is, if you wanna assess guilt. which certainly seems to be the point here.

Section 8 and affirmative action are like convict work-release, only the glaring failures get publicity; what works is hard to see and flies below the radar.

Yes, the majority of crime in America doesn't cross racial lines, it is black-on-black. The majority of inter-racial crimes are when that turns into black-on-white. The idiotic idea of moving section 8 people (folks who have generally failed to manage their lives) into suburbs (where those folks who have generally managed to manage their lives live) does nothing but create strife.

White flight happens for a reason, and the more taxpayer money that is spent trying to negate it the more money whites have to waste trying to flee. If they stay, they can only count higher taxes, crime and insurance rates, and lower expectations and results in schools. Whites are discouraged from physically defending themselves against blacks, but black on white violence is almost always excused and minimized. Look at what happens when a basketball team wins or looses.

So true and this is exactly why section 8 is ruining our country. Keep the lazy,uneducated thugs in concentrated, high rise projects. Stop spreading this vermon across every nice area.

It is CRIMINALS , GANGBANGERS and THUGS , not blacks and Hispanics that are the real true problem in America. Promise1 has good points when it comes to crime. The real issue is that these scumballs of ANY race are being mollycoddled (for example Section 8 etc). .. If they got what what they truly deserve, white and/ middle class would not be as nowhere near as rampant as it is/ was in the last 4-5 decades.
