Aside from climate/topography, suspect many who located in SiliconValley/BevHills would have preferred to locate in Chic....

3% IL income tax means corruption is a lot cheaper than in NYC/CA, w/their 10% state inc txs

Many NYC hedge funds are closely examining locating in Greenwich for its 5% inc tx (aside from the ~40% of NYC region HF already based in Greenwich)

But grub in Greenwich is about as gruesome/inedible as in suburbs anywhere

Many jaded guys from NYC/SF/LA respect QOL in Chic, as guys from GoldCoast/LF/Winnetka can easily drive a new S600 from climate-controlled garages at home to similar undgd garages in Loop...to valet pkg in front of places like Alinea...1stWorld amenities

Would argue US' most 3rdWorld city is actually Manhattan, where even billionaires lack basics like undgd office garages and pkg in front of Daniel, etc....and depend upon some smelly, inept 3rdWorld driver (prob paid $150-250K/yr) to drive their scuffed-up S550 around Manhattan

Thanks for the responses. Does the EL really not run when it snows? What do people do when they depend on that system to get to work? I know that trains have some engines with snow plows on them, too bad they couldn't do that for the El.

So here is hsw again, who refuses to type in anything even remotely resembling standard English, and who seems judge cities solely based on the existence of underground parking garages, strange obsession to say the least.

My understanding is that only in major storms is this an issue. Every little bitty snowfall we get doesn't affect the el.

Yeah, we all feel sorry for Manhattan bilionaires and their underpaid drivers...

Now what would be cool is if we each had a miniature el train that we could have for our own personal use. Let's say we could keep these in... I dunno... climate controlled garages?

Then we cld tke thm dwntwn n-e-tme we wnted.

The lack of trees along on major thoroughfares. It can make a huge difference.

Chicago was hit hard by Dutch Elm disease. Austin Blvd at one time was a green tunnel in the summer, gorgeous. Then the elms died off.
