Initial speculation is that it's gang-related. We'll see what turns up.

This man was shot over a mile north of the address the OP is/was looking at.

I suppose it is related to this post however:

Not officially ruled an arson yet, but the preliminary evidence of arson is compelling enough that the coroner has already ruled the deaths as homicides.

The hubby and I have a limit of $200k, 2 bed, must accept cats/dogs, and have a washer/dryer in unit. Our search on the North side has produced a lot of places in Albany Park.

We are seriously considering putting in an offer at N Albany and W Irving Park.

My only reservations about this place is I'm not very familiar with the area and the L is a bit further than I'd prefer, but the bus seemed quick when we tried it out.

Is this place in fact Albany Park and does anyone have an opinion about it?
You can get a decent house for under $200k in any number of decent neighborhoods. Unless you can get a decent 2 br/ 2 ba condo under $70k, I wouldn't do it.

Look at this...I'm reviving an old thread instead of starting a new one

I know the OP asked about the area around W Irving Park & Albany, and it seems the general consensus is that the area there is fine. Just to make sure (because we're apartment hunting solely online), how's the area around Kedzie at Bertea? Generally safe?

Thanks!! This forum has been an invaluable resource for our move.

At least you picked the right thread to do it in.

Berteau and Kedzie is a little over two blocks away from Irving Park and Albany.

Basically what has been said about Irving Park and Albany can go for Berteau and Kedzie for the most part.

Thanks!

Not all that far from the other location, we are also considering a house near Irving Park and North Central Park Ave. Any comments/concerns about that area at all?

We have our choice narrowed down to two places and it is basically coming down to input from here to decide for us, since my husband and I can't decide between the two places.
