If you are looking for a way to escape slush and dirty snow for a few hours, you'll have to try this little get away. On our way back from Michigan last weekend, we stopped at a great restaurant in Beverly Shores, IN. The atmosphere reminded me of the old time eateries along Rt. 12, from the days before 94 was completed. (when dinosaurs still roamed the earth! )

Barlett's is named for the developer who bought acerage and turned Beverly Shores into an urban resort community in the 20's, owned by the the proprietor of Miller Bakery Cafe, the food is fantastic! It's about 35 miles from the city and worth a fun drive - we watched the sun set at the lake and then headed to Barlett's for a fabulous meal. It was a great, mixed crowd, young, old, kids...so much fun!
