Kurt Warner was a real asset to St. Louis and did a lot of fabulous charity work while he lived there, plus he was a damn fine quarterback, so I had to root for the Cardinals -- though I agree with Lookout that my hatred for Phoenix almost made my loyalties swing the other direction.

P.S. Both feet were so down.

It was not hard to figure out,but his comment was still ridiculous.

He said cause growing up in Hi., there was no NFL teams. So, Pittsburgh Steelers became his favorite. Those were his words, not mine. Who could blame him for loving the GREATEST NFL team with SIX Super Bowl Rings!

One of the places the Cardinals used to play in was Comiskey Park. They played in Chicago for about 60 years.

I would be rooting for the Cardinals even without the Chicago connection. The Chicago connection makes it more justifiable to myself. Also one of our favorite troll's of late is from Pittsburgh. Which gives me another reason to root for the Cards.
You back the wrong horse my man!

I was rooting for the Cards. It would've been the Cinderella story story of the year. Too bad. The Steelers (along with the Cowboys, and Pats) will probably be back in Super Bowl soon enough.

I've always liked the Steelers, despite never spent any significant time there. We lived in Beaver county for a year when I was 3. But if anything, that would've worked to discourage me from rooting for any pittsburgh teams, as my mother was convinced the entire Pittsburgh metro area was the ****hole of the universe. After seeing the neighborhood we lived in a few years ago, she was probably right.

But anyways, the Steelers organization just seemed like the AFC counterpart to the Bears (mind you, this is coming from someone who's first football memories are the 85 Bears). Especially in the 90's, when the Bears started becoming, well, the Bears, the Steelers still played the game the way it should be played.

Great running game, great defense.

So I don't see why it would be strange for any Chicagoan to root for them.

More like mediocre running game, declining defense in the case of da' Bears...

I couldn't resist at least one slam on the Bears in a football-related thread.

I did say should be played, not actually played. The Steelers organization is what the Bears claim to be.

Of course, after 20 years of mostly terrible offense and occasionally great but usually mediocre defense, I'd rather see the Bears go all Boise State and light up the scoreboard without being able to stop a thing, if only to change things up for a little bit.

Don't forget that the 85' Bears were coach by a Pittsburgh native (metro that is), Mike Ditka! He was born an raised in Alliquippa, Pa. (20 miles south of the city of Pittsburgh)
