Because it is.
There are TWO Blue Line Western stops, and the one near Western and Armitage is on the Bucktown/Logan Square border. I guess you might call it "near northwest side", but North Side encompasses it, I think. |

there seems to always be a serial rapist on the loose in some northern chicago neighborhood...always!

A friend of mine worked for the judge in the "Wicker Park Rapist" case a few years ago, and being a resident of Bucktown she was especially happy to see this guy get thrown in jail. He was a particularly nasty one.
I really have trouble understanding the mind of someone who does this type of thing. But they seem to pop up everywhere that has a concentration of young people. College campuses always seem to have serial rapist types popping up on a semi-regular basis. |

...and people on here always scoff at me when I warn of the dangers around Logan Square and the outskirts of Bucktown as well as around Western Ave south of Belmont.   |

Yeah, apparently there's been some robberies at the Spaulding entrance of the Logan Square stop. So when i go to my friend's house i have to decide if i want to ride thru gangland up Kimball to hit the belmont bus (it helps that you can track both of those buses now  ), or go to the Spaulding entrance and potentially get robbed. Sweet!
Edit: i don't think i've ever scoffed at your opinion of the matter.  |

Stick to the original plan. The area around the Kimball stop is even worse. |
