I'm moving in 2 weeks. If there are any black females on this foum, you probably already know what I'm going to ask. Where are the good hair salons? Where can I get my hair braided? I've already heard about Honey Lace Wigs - Home from Neesh. Any other places? I know Chicago has to have some good hair salons. If they're really good, I don't care about the cost or how far they are.

Hope I didn't offend anyone with the Southside title. I read this forum all the time and it seems like most of the people that post are from the northside. I'm assuming the best braiders are near majority black neighborhoods. No offense intended. Northsiders and Westsiders if you know some good braiders, please let me know.

There's a user named "SkyeINIL" who is black, female, and in the south side. She hasn't been active here for a couple of months but you can send a direct message to her by clicking here. and she may (or may not) get a notice by e-mail that you sent her a message.

I believe mel2000 also fits the criteria as well but I'm not sure. You can send him/her a direct message by clicking here.

Actually, I know a licensed hairdresser who will come by your place to braid you up at a reasonable rate. PM me for details.

Glad you got some recommendations. Unfortunately, mel2000 is a male southsider who knows nothing about hair braiding :-(

I stand corrected. Though I bet you're a closet expert hair braider.

Personally, I don't know much about places that braid hair, but like, Manigault, I've heard good things about Yehia in Hyde Park. I also have a friend who some years ago would go to a girl in a shop on 116th and Halsted. I know it's vague, but unfortunately, I haven't lived in the city for a while so I'm a little out of touch.
