Do you remember Chess Records?
Old school record labels Motown, Stax, and Chess Records are doing a really cool thing where if you buy any CD from one of these labels you get a free limited edition poster. The poster is a watercolor painting by California artist Kenji and features music greats like Etta James and Chuck Berry. Here’s the link if you wanna learn which stores are participating:

Going to listen to some of that early gospel,

I think the music of that era is timeless. I still enjoy listening to it! Really nice picture too. Randy

Yeah, I love it too. Now that I'm retired and have the time I oughta start a Soul music band just for kicks. I'm a pretty damned good drummer.
If you ever get down to Memphis visit the Stax Museum of Soul Music. I was there about 4 years ago and it's excellent. It's built where the Stax studio was on Mclemore Street and among other things has a reproduction of the studio including the control room. Much of the original gear is there including the Altec A7 playback monitors, the Altec A5 control monitor, the desk and recorders and some of the gear used by the MGs including Al Jackson's Rogers drumkit and amps and axes used by Cropper and Dunn.

Wow, that's really cool! I know that they are also doing a fly-away promotion for black history month as well, and I believe that is one of the cities that the winner would be visiting. That would be very neat.
And yes, I myself,am a guitarist. I would love to do an old "Big Band" jazz group, or take it back to Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin.
If you're interested in going to Chicago to the foundation of Chess records here's a link to the contest...

Yes, Cropper is standing behind Jim Stewart, the co-owner, with his sister Estelle, of the studio.
Also in the photo are Sam and Dave, Issac Hayes and the "Memphis Horns", Jackson and Love.
The speaker is an Altec A5, a medium sized "Voice of the Theatre". I used to use a pair of those in my hi-fi.
