It wasn't just me
I knew it!!! It was around 4:20 am.I live in South Loop Chicago and could not sleep but the bed starting shaking but in an odd way.I woke up my husband and he told me to be quiet that it was just the dog or something. Then I notice that the mirror on the dresser was shaking too. This building is a new construction hi-rise and they are building a new one right next to mine so I was afraid that they compromised our foundation. I am glad to know that someone else felt it too.

I was totally freaking out calling my whole family making sure that nothing bad happened as I thought something else, not an earthquake, was shaking my bed. I never expected an earthquake here in Chicago, I've never felt a tremor before!

Ok, I'm glad to hear that some other people felt this, too. I was half asleep when I felt some shaking. It was certainly very minor, but there's no doubt that there was a little shimmy.
I checked the IRIS Page IRIS Seismic Monitor and the USGS quake page Latest Earthquakes in the World - Past 7 days and there was some activity in Southern Illinois/Indiana in the 5.4 range. That must have been it.

I too thought I felt a tremor at 4:40am in Orland Park, but because I can't hear, I couldn't find any signs in this house to confirm or indicate my findings. I was surprised others in the house didn't wake up. I had felt one last year as well in this old brick bldg., in Chicago by East Village, on the 2nd fl. of my apt. where the pull chain for the fan swayed & my 2 bikes on this suspended bike rack verified that.
And for cmh logan square, where did you find that information. I've been looking for sites, but couldn't find anything?

yea when i felt it there was no doubt it was an earthquake. probably lasted 15 seconds. very bizarre feeling because it took me a few seconds to figure out what was going on because it woke me up.

This morning, the USGS verified a 5.4 magnitude earthquake in southern IL at 4:36 a.m., near the IL/IN border. Epicenter is nearest to West Salem, IL (about 40 miles NW of Evansville, IN).
