Default Phantom Cook County Jobs

So the city has been appropriating $3 million annually for city jobs involving supervising inmates and maintaining a jail, but the jail has been vacant for years. What a joke! Only in Chicago!

What? You're trying to tell us Chicago has no jail in use? Or are you talking bout one particular facility?

ON CBS 2 Last night ( Jay Levine) .. It was actually Cook County, who had been budgeting 60 staff positions for supervision in the Old Cook County Jail building that has been closed for years... later in the report they stated that Tom Dart had ended that partilcular line item..Story/video should be on their webite..didn't check because I saw it as broadcast and have no need to see it again.. main correction to OP is that it's the COUNTY government and not the CITY government that had done this..

Todd Stroger probably has 40 of his extended family members working in that department!

"Millions Spent On Vacant County Jail Space"

CHICAGO (CBS) ―

"There are some big questions about a phantom jail in Cook County. No inmates. No staff. And yet for years, millions of dollars have been set aside to fund it.

Chief Correspondent Jay Levine reports.

It was a classic bait and switch. Saying you needed the money for one thing, but using it for whatever you want.

The Cook County Board passed a new budget Friday, although judging from what we found you wonder how much members knew about what's in it..."
