What your missing is, the regulation of the government agency, Fannie Mae, was needed. And yes, the Republicans were all for that. Bush moved for it 12 times during his administration. In 2005, Democrats on the Senate Banking Committee voted down a comprehensive regulation bill UNANIMOUSLY on a party-line vote. Why? Democrats didn't want damn reform. They wanted that gravy train to keep on a-rolling.

Thanks for helping me hit the century mark. That's the magic figure for the banner folks on other sites. We'll see what it is for this place.

This is where your Limbaugh-esque revisionist history comes in to play. There has been a concerted effort by right-wing strategists to change the dialogue of this recession by placing blame on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac instead of private lenders. I have to admit, it's a very sneaky tactic--and since right-wing ditto heads rarely question the company line, it will likely work for the truly dim-witted. However, most economists agree that this is a completely erroneous assertion. You need to get your news somewhere other than talk radio, buddy.
The Big Picture | Private Sector Loan Losses vs Fannie/Freddie
Best quote from the article:
"The "Blame Fannie/Freddie/CRA" crowd, do provide a service: I know anyone who repeats this meme is an empty headed parrot, a mindless drone without an ability to think. This is a huge timesaver, as it has allowed me to dismiss many of the ditto heads I might have otherwise wasted time on.
So whoever came up with this silly talking point, despite your lack of concern for facts and your attempts at muddying the waters -- thanks! You've saved me an enormous amount of time in identifying people not to bother reading, and to ignore."

I'm not sure what you are trying to tell us by that, but please stop derailing this thread from its focus on baseball. If you wanna discuss you're feeling about something not related to baseball, feel free to open a thread in the NYC forum.

Why are we still responding to this guy? Let's all just relax, because we don't have to worry about him or his kind for another 4 years. As for the original post, I am not embarrassed at all to live in Chicago because of our president.
On the other hand, I am extremely embarrassed to be from Louisana, now that the Republican golden-boy Bobby Jindal has become governor there, signing acts like the one that makes castration an available sentence for sex offenders. Talk about socialist, how about the government deciding that a person is unfit to reproduce. Personally, I can't wait until Jindal makes his run at the presidency in 2012. All the Republicans will have laid all their hopes on him, and then once his background is fully vetted you'll see what corruption looks like. The corruption in Louisiana makes Chicago look like an ideal government, and there is no way that Jindal will escape that unsullied.
