Hahahaha... Do you have any investments in East Garfield Park? Sure seems like you do.
Hahahaha....
You are not going to make a profit any time in the near future.
Hahahaha....

I hope EGP does turn around. If there are more people thinking (incorrectly) that EGP is a decent place, maybe it's a good sign. There are certainly enough vacant lots and buildings there to effect change without even having flip the current housing. The population of EGP has plummeted since the 1960s.
But, if I were to invest there myself, I'd do so from a safe distance. A friend of mine owns two buildings in Garfield Park, and he is a landlord collecting section 8 from the government.

I think when you say "over exaggerate" instead of plain "exaggerate" you exaggerate.

How do you guys know it wasn't firecrackers that mgk1984 was hearing? I am not familiar with EGP at night but in the neighborhood I used to live in (different city) we would hear fireworks/firecrackers all the time. Granted we occasionally heard gunfire too but it's easy to tell the difference and I know the vast majority of the noise was fireworks/firecrackers, because I talked to the people doing it.
Isn't it possible that the trouble in EGP is block by block and that mgk1984 happened to find one of the less awful areas? Maybe we should take this evidence for what it is instead of implying that he/she has some ulterior motives to posting something against the grain.

Yuppies on this forum don't know
Most firecrackers are firecrackers. You guys act like people are always shooting each other in the hood. In Humboldt Park, I hear firecrackers and gunfire. Unless you are close, they are very difficult to tell apart. Both firecracker and gunfire activity pick up as the weather gets nicer.
I have heard both and seen both from just a few feet away. I am guessing few on this forum can say that.
I am not doubting EGP has lots of gunfire and gang activity but not all that loud popping noise is gunfire. We too easily call loud noises gunfire, though sometimes it is warranted in crappy areas like Garfield Park, Humboldt Park too at times.

A huge majority of the loud popping noises that are not a week or two before or after the Fourth of July in East Garfield Park (and in most neighborhoods) are guns shots.

It is as bad now as it has been for the last 3 decades. Not much has changed.

I would consider myself a pioneer, but I don't think I will see EGP being gentrified in my lifetime.
