Ass is acceptable to say on network T.V. now.
Therefore it is no longer vulgar for public ears (unless used in a sexual manner.) That is the F.C.C. talking baby.

Personally? Nothing.
However, I think you are trying to conflate two different things here. The fact that he said 'dumb ass' and the fact that he directed it at Obama. While criticism of a public figure is fair the use of foul language, which depending on the school could include 'dumb ass', is punishable. This is part of the agreement in using a public school system. |

Does it matter? As legal guardian of your child you commit them to an institution of your choosing (if you are lucky to have a choice). If you do not like the quality or the regulations of your choices then you can home school or find tutoring.
I agree that censorship is ridiculous but thems the brakes. |

But calling someone a dumb ass even if he is a dumb ass is a disrespectful way to express how you feel. Schools generally tfrown upon that and thats just the way the cookie crumbles. Most everyone had to go through it and its a good thing . Could you imagine all the crude outbursts by people if they were never discouraged in their youth. |

How do you know the school he attends specifically has a rule against using the term dumb ass?
Like I said before, the word "ass" is allowed on public T.V. and Radio now by the F.C.C. as long as it is not used in a sexual manner.
This case should be fairly easy to win.

I didn't realize schools were now regulated by the FCC. As someone else pointed out, a school is a bit different than TV. I'm sure the teacher wasn't mad that he insulted Obama, but used "dumb ass" I'm sure you would've alos got detention if you called a different political figure, celebrity, another student, or a teacher a dumb ass. It's probably not considered appropriate language for school.
