The laptop was in the trunk, but they could have accessed it if they stopped to figure that out. The other items were under a blanket in the back. An extra pair of hiking boots in the back that could have easily been ganked was not even touched.

I know you're not trying to say it's the victims fault anyways, just to fill you in. In additoin, they didn't even make an attempt to rifle through anything. I think my alarm must have been explosive, combined with the flashing car lights when that happens they probably immediately ran...

Well you were smart about it after all, these guys were probably just amateurs. I'm guessing 16-17 years old at the most. They were probably just as content to break a window or two. Which is really low.

I managed an apartment complex in a very nice part of Austin, TX, a very low crime city. And we still had 1-2 car break-ins a week. Crime can and will happen anywhere, you might as well not invite it on yourself.

That said, I'm sorry you got your car broken into. When I was 17 I had a very expensive stereo system stolen out of my car. That kind of thing really makes you feel violated, and down right pissed.
I miss Austin =(

What property do you manage?

Well my brothers car got broken into while he was at the park in broad daylight with people 50 ft away from his car and this was in Houston. But like I said, ever since Katrina Houston in not the same.

His flavor of the month he was with left her purse in the car on the seat.

Houston's crime levels were about the same as pre-Katrina. In fact, the worst year Houston has had in the last decade was 2002.

*edit* But looking more closely at the data, murders are certainly up since 2005!

There was a bried bump as the Ghotti Boys relocated there for a bit, then when they moved out life as normal...

Default eck

It's hardly a mob, more like a bunch of animals with guns.
