Smile Driving Cicero South - Midway to Matteson, IL

Have to pick someone up at Midway at 6PM and we're headed to Matteson, IL near Lincoln and Cicero. Google Maps shows the quickets route from Midway is taking Cicero the whole way - versus going out of the way to get to an interstate. Anybody tried that before? Are the lights gonna kill me? Is it even worth it to head on one of the interstates?

I'd appreciate any advice,
Thanks!
