One on Madison...
Then there's some guy selling watermelons and bananas in the middle of an empty lot a block or two away..... never has any customers.
It's so funny just seeing him and his table all alone in the middle of nowhere!

If there was one location that was not in a ghetto I might actually go shop there. But then again how could a Moo and Oink exist properly if it is not in a ghetto?
"If you've never been to Moo & Oink, this part of our website will give you just a taste of the Moo & Oink experience. For new and old comMOOnity members alike, this is where you can view our weekly ads, shop for products, and see what's new at your BBQ Headquarters.
There are four Moo & Oink store locations, three of which are on Chicago's South and West Sides. The fourth is in Chicago's south suburb of Hazel Crest, a south suburb of Chicago; this 50,000 square-foot location is a full-size grocery store called Moo & Oink and More.
Each store carries the complete Moo & Oink product line and a number of other brands, as well as groceries and perishables for a balanced meal (size permitting). The oldest existing store, also home to our corporate office, is at 7158 S. Stony Island, while the second South Side store is at 8201 S. Racine. The Westside store at 4848 W. Madison is our largest city location, housing a full smokehouse with our hand-cleaned chitterling operation and much, much more..."

82nd and Racine. I had no clue.
That's a pretty typical address for a drive-by in the Breaking News section. I'll have to stop by.

We had a nice Pick N' Save in Waukegan and it closed last year after only about six years in operation. Most people blame the new Walmart in Fountain Square, but apparently they lost a fortune in shoplifting, employee theft and bad checks. Walmart is very aggressive in pursuing those kind of losses and seem to be beating the odds.
On the issue of the south and west sides of Chicago, remember the movement of the Aldermen and unions to block Walmart and Target from opening superstores in the area. Now those same people are bewailing the lack of fresh food markets and demanding a $100 million subsidy from the state for new food stores.
At the risk of sounding mean, the community has only themselves to blame.

The one on Stony is pretty damn ghetto. Can't argue with that.

Actually
Rewording to avoid more wording issues Dominicks at Cabrini Green is indeed a high TARE location for them despite the neighborhood, because West of there it does get bad. Also, I don't think Cabrini is shut down, though it may be, I am basing this on the fact that everytime I drive by I see bangers walking around the open-view halls and property.

2. The Dominick's near Cabrini Green has everything to do with the increased affluence of the neighborhood and nothing with the fact that there are still housing projects nearby.

Western and Madison, new grocery store
Pete's Fresh Market is currently negotiating to build 50,000 sq ft location at Madison and Western, with bank building separate (no drive-thru) and 3-4 other retail stores.
They are also building store at Belmont and Pulaski, obviously a much better area, across the street from Shoemaker Lofts.
Both stores should open sometime next year.
