Both stores should open sometime next year.
They seem to be expanding fast. There is one being built on 95th in Evergreen Park also. I think Petes are very well run and reasonable.

Default Petes Fresh Market

They are also building 2 additional stores. Amazing company. They also own 1,000,000 sq ft of investment retail space and have virtually no debt.

Check out their store at 43rd and Pulaski, one of the nicest grocery stores I have ever been in.

I agree, have been to the Pulaski store many times. Even the old little one in Chicago Lawn is really well run.

Poor people become so obese and overweight because all they have is fast food joints around them combined with zero grocery stores, in close proximity, to purchase actual nutritionally rich foods.
Fast food does not make people obese. Consuming more calories than you burn makes you obese. Eat less, move more. Stop blaming the food.

Finally someone gets it! Nicely stated.
(most people want to blame everyone and everything else for their problems but fail to look in the mirror)

Can you buy booze and smokes with food stamps?

If a retailer accepts food stamps, do they get cash value from the govt (city, county or federal?) and does the retailer have to provide to the payer what the purchaser used the stamps for?

if you have cash benefits then you can use it for what ever..
if its food stamps its food only... unless you get a shady business owner that can cheat the system

food stamps have a pretty stable black market rate of about 50 cents on the dollar - one of the major flaws of the system.

the Chicago Food Depository does a better job.

I agree. Moderation is the keyword and that goes for both buying groceries or eating out in fast food restaurants.
