From all time periods...

And when is someone a Chicagoan?
Only when you're born here? Or when you lived here most of your life? When your fame comes from the city like a sports player...?

The most famous Chicagoan is Al Capone. If it weren't for Lincoln he'd be the most famous Illinoisan too. Obviously I'm playing the long game as Obama is the most famous Chicagoan and Illinoisan right now. I'm confident that in 100 years Capone and Lincoln will still be famous and I hope Obama is.

And yeah, I know Capone came from New York as a young man.

The most famous Hoosier is John Dillinger. The most famous Missourian is Jesse James and the most famous Marylander is John Wilkes Booth. The most famous New Mexican is Billy the Kid and the most famous Wyominger (?) is Butch Casidy. Wild Bill, though a lawman at times, is the most famous South Dakaton and was an Illinois man to boot. The most famous Arizonan, Wyatt Earp, was also a lawman at times and from Illinois.

Americans love their outlaws and bandits.

I would say a Chicagoan is someone that when you think of, you associate that person with the city of Chicago. They also have to at least live here for part of the year, as least in my book. Therefore, Oprah and Michael Jordan are famous Chicagoans.

Unfortunately Obama is famous for all the wrong reasons. Maybe he'll shine as a president, and maybe not. But for now, his popularity is beyond me. Lincoln was popular for a reason, Obama not so much. So far Im extremely disappointed with him and his actions, and particularly his boneheaded administration.

I sure hope that changes of course, but for now Ill never understand how and why Obama is so popular.
