Ok, show me where I said the "residents of STL, are ALL so cosmopolitan and world travellers!...."
Chi people nieve to the rest of the world? Some of them are. Your feeling about a New Yorker are no different than STL's feeling towards some Chi residents.
I just went back through this whole thread only to realize that you havent contributed any concrete evidence why he should explore an opportunity in STL. The best reasoning you have is that Chi is a word class city. Whoopieee!!! I have a hard time believing that you actually spent any considerable time in STL city. If I had to be you were probably way out in the burbs.

No, my "feeling" towards a NY'er, is a pretty well known fact. Alot of NY'ers think that life doesn't exist West of the Hudson. In fact the magazine "The New Yorker", had a drawing showing this.
Chicagoans are more open minded when comparing cities. On the NYC forum, I seen NY'ers describing San Fransico as "farmlike". They were talking about the actual 'city' of San Fran too. Not some suburb or outlying area.
Do you think that I, or somebody, would actually brag about being in St. Louis? If so, why would they? STL is far from being any kind of 'world player'. Why on earth would anyone lie about having been there? You need to check that ego!......

Even though Chicagoans are more open minded than a NY'er they are still closed minded in general. Most Chi people nothing exists south of I80. Sorry buts thats what I have experienced.
I will, along with many other STL residents brag about STL til I am blue in the face since it is a great city with a lot to offer. Its not a world player? Again thats your opinion not mine.
I am not necessarly saying you are lying but I just dont think you spent any considerable time in the city limits.
Again show me some good reasoning why he shouldnt move to STL based on your time in STL. I dont think you have any.

It's simple, Chicago blows STL away. I said before, if he was talking about having the chance to go to a city like San Fran or NYC or DC, etc, I'd tell him to go for it. Especially cause he's going to make more money and it's a better advancement in his career. But to St. Louis? No Way! Have you lived in Chicago before?
After living in a city like Chicago, it's a REALLY tough thing to downsize to a city like STL. Especially when he ENJOYS living in Chicago. Now 'if' he had some lousy lifestyle in Chicago cause he wasn't making any money, maybe? But myself, I'd rather suffer a little in Chicago, than live the so-called 'good life' in STL.
The fact is, most people could live better in 'cheaper' cities like STL. But, alot of us, are willing to pay the price to live in mega cities like Chicago, and sometimes we have do without what our counterparts have in 'those' other cities.

Chi blows STL away? No it doesnt.
Mega cities? You need to really get over yourself. Or should I say your city.
My point is you never really spent any solid time in STL so you shouldnt judge a city on your perception of it. Yes I know he enjoys living there which is why he is going to have a difficult decision. I would have a hard time moving to Chi for a job because I simply do not like it. I respect it but have never been fond of it. I like STL better. There are great opportunities here and I live a good life here in downtown STL. Just because a city is bigger doesnt mean it is better. STL has a ton to offer however most people dont realize it. Just my personal preference.

My city? I'm from Pittsburgh! Even if I was still living in Chicago, I'd NEVER call it "my city". I was born and raised in Pittsburgh, when someone asks where I'm from, that's where I tell them, no matter where I'm living. Chicago is close to reaching 10 million in it's metro, hence it'll have the title "mega-city". Sorry if that offends you, these are the rules though.
"STL has a ton to offer, however MOST people don't realize it".... ..Talk about an UNDERSTATEMENT. No brick, on the contrary, people realize it, that's why Chicago has the 'city' population that it does, and that's why STL has the 'city' population it does!
You just answered your own question, and proved my point by doing so!...

I dont think so. Because people dont realize what it offers its not as big as it should be just like many other cities in the midwest. Plenty of people than live in Chi do so because its where they were placed and not their choice. If they had they opportunity to live elsewhere some may do so. He has that opportunity and might as well capitalize on it since it involves a great city with plenty to offer. I agree with a previous comment that its all to scale.
It doesnt offend me. Its your rules and your opinion only and shows nothing but ignorance.

So now, let me get this straight, "plenty" of Chicago's 2.8 million 'city' population, would bolt if ONLY they had an "opportunity" to do so?...
Now, I think it's time you, "get over yourself"!... You're acting like Daley had walls built there to keep people from 'escaping' or something.
I'm sure the dream of "plenty" of Chicagoan's, is for one day to escape to the 'city' of STL. One can only dream though...........

Yeah I consider Brookfield Zoo to be better than Lincoln Park Zoo.
My point is Lincoln Park is one of the top zoo's that is free.
That is all I was saying.
