I am taking the afternoon off work to attend, if we have enough people going on this board we should have a City-Data meetup there!

If they are going to increase our income tax by 50%(because I guess if your household makes 57k you are rich), raise services fees and god knows what else, I think they need to hear from us.

I am tired of working for the Government, anyone else taking the afternoon off? If you were not planning on it, maybe you should think about it?

This is not a Republican/Democrat thing, this is for us to Unite as AMERICANS and tell our Government to back the hell off. We pay enough money to them and they need to start cutting the corruption/programs/jobs they cannot afford.

We need to live within OUR budget, they need to do the same.

Don't B/S yourself and think this will be the only taxes raised, this is just the start, we are 11 Billion (probably more like 19) in debt.

Here is the info if you are interested in meeting up:

http://www.taxdayteaparty.com/

Just click on the Illinois link for details

I am willing to meet up with whoever and maybe grab a beer afterwards. If we can get a whole group to go it will be fun!

I work on the outskirts of Chicago (Near O'Hare) so I will be fairly close.

Oh, it's April 15th btw

Nah. I'm a coffee guy myself. I drink iced tea from time to time, but tea parties are for 8 year old girls.

good luck.

30,000 people total across 50 states, so I guess in a way it was.

It wasn't that bad of a turn out for less than a months notice.

But thank you! I need all the luck I can get!

Everyone knows that's a gross lie. They claimed hundreds were at the Chicago one when there clearly weren't.

I support your right to protest, and I hope you have a great time, but I know you know there weren't 30,000 at them. There just weren't.

Yea, that was good , you might find this a surprise I like the daily show....though I guess if you are not informed and this is your source of news it could be bad.

I don't agree with Jon Stewart, I believe he is grandstanding half the time but he is funny none the less!

I am not saying 30,000 in Chicago.....I will check my post, if I said that, my bad, I meant 30,000 people COMBINED in all 50 states....my bad, sorry, posting this from work.

No you did say throughout the U.S. and I understand that. But that number is based off of ridiculously inflated numbers from throughout the U.S. -- including the one in Chicago where they claimed many people were there when even their photos show there simply weren't.

Since the original "Chicago Tea Party" was a clearly partisan event, you'll have trouble roping Democrats into this one because they will associate it with the other event. I'm all for protesting this tax increase, but am wary of this particular protest.
