Any cool nature places in Chicago?
Hi,
My family and I have recently relocated to Chicago, and we love hiking, biking, etc. With the weather (hopefully) getting a little nicer, can you point to some cool places to hike, picnic, etc.? Thanks!!!

There are tons of them. To read more about Chicago nature stuff go to the Chicago Wilderness website. Chicago Wilderness It does not tell you about the trails but it will give you a sense of the kinds of areas that are in and surround Chicago. Its truly amazing!!!!! Unknown though by many. Most of the Forest preserves ringing Chicago have trails and places to walk to hike. Also the lakefront. Go visit the Magic Hedge near Montrose Harbor. Also there is Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. The Prairie Path that goes out to Dupage County and beyond to Kane County. You could try Illinois Beach State Park near Zion, IL. Also the Botanic Garden in Lake County. You could come to the Wheaton area and explore Herrick Lake, Lincoln Marsh, and Blackwell Forest Preserve. There are many many more places. This is only a small sample. You can look up these places by googling them and finding maps of how to get there.

I know a family that lives on the North Branch of the Chicago River. He has a back yard that you would swear is in the North Woods for a few weeks of the year...

One of my favorite places in the world, just a short drive away:
Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore
