Lakeview, Andersonville, Lincoln Park, Edgewater, all are really nice areas, have good public transit, easily walkable, great for young folks, and plenty of job opprotunities nearby.

First of all, I don't know who told you to check out Rogers Park. Unless you enjoy the sounds of gunshots at night (although this has decreased in recent years). Hyde Park is a small little rich neighborhood on the South Side (Obama's house is there, and U of C). Uptown is... Uptown. Anyways, even if you don't know what CTA lines you'll need to be taking, it's good to be by at least two. Try Ravenswood/Lincoln Square area, or the neighborhood by the Belmont Red Line Stop.

Check out Buena Park between Irving Park and Montrose - close to things and very nice area, but a little less expensive. Or you could really check out anything near the lake up through Uptown.
Uptown is SERIOUSLY not as bad as its reputation as a whole. The huge issue is the pocket between Clarendon, Malden, Montrose and Lawrence. That 3/4 square mile area is full of crazies, but the rest of it is honestly fine.
I tell my friends I live in Uptown and they laugh and say things, but then they come up to Buena and visit and are totally floored.

Beware of looking for housing without knowing where your job is located. It'll be a painful commute from Uptown to Palos Hills, for example.

So the corner of Clarendon and Wilson is no good?

Funny, I've lived in Rogers Park for just under a year now and have yet to hear gun shots.
There are certain parts of Rogers Park to avoid, but your post was pretty ignorant.
