Northside-off brown line
I grew up on the southside (26th st), and now live in the west side because of school. Now that I am leaving the dorms I've been looking at apartments. What's Lincoln Square like? What about over by the Irving Park brown line stop? Any reccomendations?

Both are pretty family oriented areas so for a college student it may be a fish out of water experience. If you want to be on the brown line maybe try West Lakeview or St Bens/Roscoe Village. They both have 30-something families but also 20-something recent grads.

I just went for a walk in Lincoln Square today. I love it and I'm 23, but then again, my husband and I are not party people and family-oriented neighborhoods appeal to us very much. Unless you absolutely have to be by tons of action, you'd probably like it enough. You'd have the brown line to take you to other areas, but it doesn't run 24 hours... that's what kept us out of the areas that are serviced only by the brown line, although they seem to be some of the nicest, according to our tastes.

The Irving Park Brown Line stop couldn't be more St. Ben's. St. Ben's Church is right ON Irving Park Road by the Brown Line stop. The OP is basically asking "how's St. Ben's", and you're saying "it's alright, but you should check out St. Ben's".

Lincoln Square is a great neighborhood, and many twenty-somethings really love it there even though they have to dodge dozens of strollers on weekends with nice weather.

I'm a twenty-something, though I'm closer to the other end of my 20s, and I live in Lincoln Square. I was a younger 20-something when I moved here, though, and enjoyed it then and enjoy it now.

Lincoln Square is nice, I take a walk every now and then but it doesnt appeal to me living there, only because theres not enough nightlife there and its more family oriented and im 22 and single. so depends depends on what u like and what point in your life you're at...by the way theres a little bar on western right there by the brown line called tar bar, its an awesome place with strong drinks for cheap

Not enough nightlife.... I guess. If your idea of fun is Wrigleyville or some place like that, yeah, there's not enough nightlife in the Lincoln Square area. There are dozens and dozens of bars here, though. I could stumble to, say, 10 right now without getting outside of shouting range of my apartment. Some are an older crowd, but most are pretty much your basic bar, with all kinds of folks (most of whom tend to be, say, 25-35).
