Well Chicagoans seem to love it here. And they keep moving to Houston. I wouldn't knock a Texan's mathematical ability when you are from Illinois. 10.25 sales tax on food plus 3 percent state income tax that will soon be doubled plus property taxes that are nearly as high as Texas's equals mass exodus to the sun belt.

10.25% sales tax on food? In restaurants. Groceries are not taxed at that rate.

Yes, it's all a pipe dream. All these people I meet in Houston that moved from Chicago are a figment of my imagination.

Ferries leave from Michigan and Wisconsin why not Chicago?
By the way many Ferry's do in fact take several hours.

Try 51 miles straight across to New Buffalo as the crow flies. 120 miles pfft! 120 miles would take you half way across into Michigan.

Yes, I already knew this but I'm from Texas so supposedly, I don't know geography. Did you also know that the only purpose of a ferry is to transport cars? lol

That may be what they are meant for, however New Yorkers use them all the time to get passengers to and from Brooklyn and Manhattan as seen in "Real World Brooklyn".
In Chicago, it would be a great idea during the summer to use them to transport people over to New Buffalo from Chicago as New Buffalo I'm sure would love the added tourists, and Chicagoans including myself just love to get out of Chicago any chance they can.

Perhaps you and Myssa could start up a Chicago-to-New-Buffalo ferry. It could double as a floating massage parlor.

Oh....honey The sales tax isn't on food, the income tax is a proposed 50% hike, not 100%, and my property taxes are actually quite low. Around $2,000 on $240,000.
I can see the point you're making, but you have to get these things right if you expect a comment to "sting" someone!
