Pontiac Cafe has been closed for a few months. As far as I know it will not reopen as such if it ever reopens as anything. The most likely scenario is that old gas station getting torn down and condos built on the site.

It was closed a few months after we were there. It wasn't the coolest place in the world, but it was definitely a part of Wicker Park. When you think about it, given it's location, how hard did it have to try to be trendy? Just serve some drinks, have some T.V.s, have an outside patio, serve some crappy food and you are set.

It was way cool way back in the days (like 10 years ago) before the neighborhood became yuppieville. 99% of the people that went to it were musicians and/or artists. Wicker Park 10-20 years ago WAS a great place to be.

Lol, nothing like feeling old and despondent on a Friday night. The worst of it was that they were playing music from the 90's and I'm singing along. Then I realized this was "retro" music for these kids.

Wow, I had no idea. That was a great adaptive re-use of a building type that normally just gets bulldozed. I need to get over to my old neighborhood a bit more often...
So many of the old Wicker Park haunts have died.
