The parking meter revolt is underway.
theexpiredmeter.com » Blog Archive » Has The Parking Meter Revolt Begun?
I have given serious consideration to getting a roll of pennies and glue-plugging a whole row of these goddamn things.
I swear city government has lost its freaking mind.

Meters have been very underused in Lake View the last week or two. I can't help but think businesses are going to suffer even more because of the parking meter increase.

You reach a point at which it's just insanity, and this is clearly it. First the men who scream at you when you apparently park in the wrong place and they've clamped your car... Now this? **** that, I say.
It'll be interesting to see how Chicago handles the sudden and severe decrease in tax revenue.

Here's what's worse: Now I'm seeing these f#*&ing things springing up like weeds all over the place where parking wasn't even tight when it was free. There's a brand new row of them on Pulaski Avenue south of Belmont, an area that can hardly afford to chase away business customers. So now all the people in Shoemaker Loft who used to have nice open parking (at least when there weren't rush hour lane restrictions)? Now they're all hosed. A bunch just cropped up on Monticello Avenue just north of Irving. I mean, really? C'mon. It's only a matter of time before they start lining the residential streets with 'em. And if they do, who's to stop 'em? It's out of the hands of the political process now.
Oh, and here's the most delicious part: This LAZ company is a subsidiary of JP Morgan. They can't get by without TARP money, but they can pony up a billion dollars to buy a bunch of parking meters. The American taxpayer has subsidized the selling out of Chicago's streets. Awesome.

The only person that can expand the amount of meters in a specific areas is the Alderman. (As far as I know)
If anyone's Alderman is approving new meters already he/she needs to be voted out in the next election.
I urge everyone not to forget the parking meter issue in future elections.

Well I'd like to know what alderman thought there was any kind of need whatsoever for parking meters on Pulaski south of Belmont. That place is a retail desert. There's nothing there but an abandoned Jewel.
