Yeah, I think you're right about this. Personally I don't think it's a big deal to swing up Stony, but it could be confusing to someone who's not from these parts. You do have to make sure you're in the right lane to go through the park en route to LSD. That's probably the move with the biggest potential for error on the Stony Island route. But if you're trying to convince her to move here, the Nation of Islam headquarters probably won't help your cause.

Why do you say that? Because of the potential for accidents? I have trouble believing you would actually call any part of the South Side "unsafe" on this forum, and Chatham is probably one of the nicer areas around there. So I have to assume you're talking about accident potential. It does get a little hairy around there with the weird overpasses and ramps. And train tracks. And diagonal street intersections. What a clusterf***.

I take the Indiana Toll Road to Stoney Island up to Lakeshore all the time.

It's not hard to get lost at all, you literally dump into the middle of Stony Island, which is an 8 lane street. Just bare to the right at 67th, the road kinda heads that way anyway.

It might not be a good area, but there's a lot of traffic and it moves quick with the lights. I certainly wouldn't freak out about driving up Stony for a few minutes.

At a comedy club at 47th and King Drive last year a comedian said: "Finding a job now is harder than making a left turn at 79th and Stony!" Its a local saying amongst south siders.

The intersection is also one that has a lot of accidents and a lot of red light cameras. Plus a lot of folks selling newspapers, water bottles and candy for charities.

Well, if she sees its a beautiful, well-maintained house of worship and school, she may be favorably impressed. Near Operation P.U.S.H., she may be surprised at the diversity of the organization, the audience and the neighborhood.

Seeing things for yourself can sometimes dilute one's presumptions.

I love the idea of Skyway to Dan Ryan to Stevenson, and then up Lake Shore Drive. I got off my arse and decided to actually drive it yesterday...very nice views!! She's coming up on Wednesday instead which will be for the best..looks to be sunny and 65 degrees...nice!
