Jdiddy, you were the one wearing the Toews jersey? I think I saw you there! I was the one with the Sharp jersey!
As far as the game, wow. Electric. I have been to several games this year and the crowds are awesome. But, just as the playoffs should bring out that extra energy from the players, it did just that with the fans. The anthem was out of control. The game was nuts. Unfortunately, when the other team is in the lead, it's hard for the fans to get into it. But after Havlat's first goal to tie it up, the place was crazy! As was said in the previous post, the tv time out ovation was just nuts. Got tickets off of stubhub just a few hours before the game and thank god I did because if I didn't go I would have regretted it big time!

Used to be at there was a plethora of jersies at the Hawks games... names like Hull, Mikita, Chelios, Esposito, Zhamnov, Roenick, etc, etc, adorned the backs of the fans' jersies. Now its nothing but Edge jersies adorned with Toews and Kane... an endless sea of repeat jersies. What happened??!?!?!
Oh yeah, the Hawks became popular so its the "in" thing to do. No joke, in the Tribune earlier this year they even printed an article about how it was vogue to go attend a Hawks game.
Sickening and embarassing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were predominantly Roenick and Chelios jersey's in the stands long after both were pushed out of the city, because there weren't any new players worth getting excited over. Now there are.
I mean, I suppose I could've worn my old Probert jersey, or, less likely, my Reid Simpson jersey, just so I could prove to snobs like you that I'm not at the game because it's the "in" thing. But I don't care. Toews is an exciting young player. I'm excited about watching exciting young players again. So are a lot of other people. Good god, just enjoy it, man.

Just to clear up all the fighting going on in here, I was in no way putting anybody down or saying that wearing a Toews jersey is a bad thing. He is an awesome young player, the youngest captain in the NHL, and I also have a jersey of his!
On another note, couldn't get tickets to tonight's game. Anybody know of any good bars to go to in order to watch Hawks games? I know of the West End and Hawkeyes by the stadium, but any others? I'm in Wrigleyville, and not sure that post - Cubs game those bars would be best for Hawks playoffs. But I'm open to just about anywhere.

Check out Stanleys! We went there after the game Thursday, and it was PACKED with Hawks fans. Every time someone wearing Hawks stuff walked in, the bar broke out and started singing Chelsea Dagger....Awesome. I know it isn't Wrigleyville, but the 11 bus will drop you off right there, and it is a ten minute ride!
I am a proud owner of a Sharp jersey, but I still respect the history..same way the Hawks are bringing back a legend every game, but celebrating the new generation of the Hawks. Who cares if half the fans are there because it is "cool"....if that is what it takes to make the UC rock like it did Thursday, I am all for it...and this is coming from a long time season ticketholder!
It is good to see the Pride in the Indian has returned! GO HAWKS!

I do enjoy it. But I dont enjoy watching the ticket prices go up, not being able to get tickets to all the games I wanted to see, etc, etc, just because its the "in" thing to do (see the Hawks). For years I watched as maybe 8-10K people filled the stands, all into the game, now I go (if the game isnt sold out) and its like some kind of circus in there. Noone knows the rules, too many people are concerned about texting/chit-chatting, too many people dont wait for the whistle, etc, etc. Its turning into bloody Wrigley Field it seems. The last game I went to I had the "joy" of sitting behind a few girls who were wearing Sharp jersies. I should have guessed that they were there only because they think Sharp is "hot", but was hoping they were honest fans. What was hilarious was they were all asking where Sharpie was, but they were completely oblivious that he had been on IR for awhile. Gotta love it!
You see, the Bears, Sox (for the most part), Bulls and Cubs all have loyal followings. But the Hawks? Theyre shat upon by Chicagoans unless theyre doing good. Chicago has some of the most loyal fans on earth, but not when it comes to hockey. I GUARANTEE that if the Hawks dont make the playoffs for the next 5 years, the UC will once again be empty and once again Ill be able to get tickets.

Yeah it is in Lincoln Park! What an improvement over Lakeview! I really want to watch a Blackhawks game in Lincoln Park

The only pubs I've found that have Center Ice and therefore more than just the local game are in Linc. park or Lake View. Lincoln Station on Lincoln north of Fullerton is a good bet and will have sound I understand. Waterhouse in Lakeview, Justins on Southport, and Finley Dunnes (Lincoln just south of Addison) also have Center Ice and promote the playoffs/NHL.
North Center and Lincoln Square, I can't find one pub with Center Ice or even any Hawks fans.
The NW and SW sides, again, I have yet to find one place with Center Ice. In the burbs, it's just chains like Champps and BWW, which are less receptive to hanging out for a few hours to watch playoff hockey.
So unless I'm missing something, Lincoln Park and Lakeview seem to be the best (only) place to see playoff hockey.
