Hey! I'm planning my first trip to Chicago on a next to nothing budget. I have plenty of time to plan as the weekend isn't until October 10-11,'09. Starts in Grant Park and someone was telling me about a hostel right by there (anyone familiar with it)? I'm looking for basically a floor to sleep on the night before and I'll probably head back to Duluth after the marathon. Any advice on super cheap places to crash for one night?

Incidentially, is downtown Chicago become a rental/condo destination (similar to downtown Minneapolis where the best downtown units are in the heart of downtown with skywalk access, etc but you don't have to be ultra rich to live there)? Downtown Chicago looks like a lot of fun...

Welcoming your advice!

Jon in Duluth MN
