Racine & Belmont Apartment
I'm looking to rent an apartment on Racine, a few houses off of Belmont. Does anyone have experience with that area of Lakeview? It's right near a gas station. I love the area and am looking forward to living there with my wife and infant daughter. I just havent spent that much time on that exact street.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Not much different from the rest of Lakeview. Tons of everything around there, esp. being on Belmont and right in between the Sheffield and Southport corridors.

Be aware that traffic on Racine itself is kind of annoying since it is one of the few two way streets that is two way all the way from Addison down to Armitage. Lots of cabs and Wrigley mess. That was one of the big reasons I moved away from the Racine/Wellington intersection (though staying in the general area). There's not much as far as regular apartments there, either. The apts on Racine/Belmont are reserved for affrodable housing, the ones on Racine/Wellington are a giant ripoff and there's not a lot of actualy complexes beyond that. There's plenty of condos, duplexes, and SFH's for rent, though. I vastly prefer these to apartments, anyway.
So, depending on your reason for that exact intersection, I might recommend going closer to School/Kenmore/Clifton or closer to Southport.

I can't think of any multi-unti apartment complexes right there. There's several condo complexes with some units for rent, but nothing I can think of other than Racine-Wellington and the place on the SW corner of Racine/Belmont (3150 Belmont) that is an actual apartment complex. The Bel Ray is low-income housing: Our Accomplishments
Most of the apartments I can think of are on Kenmore or further east or north of Belmont/Racine.

I'm pretty sure there are three-flats in that area. Are those not "regular apartments"?

I don't consider three flats regular apartments, personally. When I think of apartments, I think of something with at least 6 units and managed by an evil apartment management company like ICM or Beal.

Yeesh. In that case, I'll take an irregular apartment any day of the week.

Great area, i used to live on Belmont/Sheffield. It can be less than 30 min commute to loop. I miss that, I'm at 40 minutes now and that extra 10 can feel like a much bigger difference. You have two sushi places/cosi/new jenney's chinese/chipolte, and then tons more further East on Belmot.
