Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with bicyclists. I am an avid motorcyclist, so I know what it's like to be much smaller and vulnerable than all the surrounding traffic. But as a result of that, I am more cautious when on my motorcycle, not more reckless.

While I hear you, I think you're automatically going to the worst cyclist behavior (which irks me, too). That doesn't really have anything to do with being able to bike past standstill traffic while in the bike lane or in the margin of a street without a specified bike lane. Which is nice, and something I enjoy greatly.

I rarely see a cyclist NOT run a red light in Chicago. They have no right to complain about drivers' behavior until they start following the laws themselves. I'd say at least 95% of the cyclists in Chicago behave dangerously. I'm all for people getting out of their cars, but it's out of hand here.

Well... I don't know that I'll agree. The truth is, drivers can kill lots of other people by driving recklessly. A reckless cyclist endangers only himself. Therefore, I, as a cyclist, follow the law (for the most part), but I won't say that a reckless cyclist is on par with a reckless driver.

I'm not defending reckless drivers by any means. Just bitching about reckless cyclists.

Wow, summer, PLEASE COME SOON. Thanks for the pics 60614!!!
I often frequent Montrose Beach. It's usually not too crowded as North Beach is, and it's great to get away sometimes from Frat Boy land. Although North Beach is really fun a lot of times, it CAN get old. Montrose has great diversity of people, and is a lot more tame. Perfect for reading.

I'm a fan of Foster Beach, myself. Montrose Beach is dirtier, and gets stripped of that nice top layer of sand a lot of times.

Right on. I don't like 'em either. I just don't think anyone needs to get "doored". Which is what started this whole thing.

When I was a kid we'd go up to Foster and swim off the rocks. We also swam off the seawalls along the Drive south of North Ave.
