No. Who cares? Honestly, do we need a Polish mayor, or Russian mayor, or Chinese or Vietnamese, East Indian. My gawd. How frickin' backwards are people?
How about asking when we'll have a mayor that is HONEST and does not hide everything out of sight of the public? Think maybe that might be a bit more important? Think that might result in a more efficient use of taxes? That that would result in less mayoral staff going to federal prison???

Bill Dana.
To answer the OP, the next mayor could certainly be Mexican, why not? They have a formidable percentage of the city's population. Their turn is probably coming.

It's the best chance a Republican will ever have to be elected in the city.
A center oriented, socially liberal, fiscally conservative, Hispanic Republican running against a hard-left Black "gimme" Democrat (which the party is probably wise enough to stay away from, but you never know...) should be enough to sew up the needed demographic subgroups of Hispanics and Whites for the win.

Yeah, but lots of whites are social conservatives and economic liberals. Mexicans too.

Great analysis! I thinkthe Dems best bet would be putting up cookie monster against G-Rod if he's running for the GOP.
