Chris Kennedy for Senator from Illinois?
Apparently, that is going to be the push by the state's Democratic party. I was somewhat surprised, as a registered Democrat, I have had three phone calls related to Kennedy in the last two days. One about fund raising opportunities and two "surveys" that definitely pushed a Kennedy candidacy.
I prefer politicians start at the local or state level before thinking they are prepared for a run for the Senate. I guess the silver lining is that Rolan Burris isn't getting the backing.

Well since he has basically lived in Chicago or the burbs for 23 years and has many ties to the area I do not object. Whether I would vote for him is another story.

Yeah, he runs the Merchandise Mart. (The Kennedys owned it for 50+ years.)

I get all of that. He is actually on the board of one of the not-for-profits I work with, and active in community affairs (wait, does that make him another community organizer? ). But I still like my politicians to have a political pedigree - other than being born into a political family.

I'm going for Mark Kirk if he runs. Experience and I like most of his positions.

Well, I see where you're coming from... but different stroke for different folks. I think those seeking political office need to know how gov't works (and being really active in managing a huge business in Chicago, of all places, is a crash course in 'how gov't works'), but I don't always like career politicians. Sometimes those from somewhat outside do a better job.

Like clockwork.
"CHICAGO (WBBM) - The Kennedy Clan emissary to the Midwest says he is indeed thinking about a run for the U.S. Senate from Illinois.
The president of the Merchandise Mart, Christopher Kennedy, says it's a big decision and he's giving it all possible thought.
Kennedy is the son of the late Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of John F. Kennery..."

Kirk is pro-war, and that is really bad for America and our fiscal budget. Kirk is in the pocket of AIPAC and he'll vote for more Middle East wars. Watch out with him. I'm glad there won't be another Kennedy in politics, the less the better.
