1) The borders of West Town (THE NEIGHBORHOOD not the "community area"-for anybody that wants to pick a fight here ) are 90/94 to the east, Chicago Ave to the north,California Ave to the west,Washington Blvd (starting from California.) When Washington gets to Green St. the border goes south to Madison Ave. then it goes east to 90/94.

2)The address is in West Town if it is south of Chicago Ave. If the address is north of Chicago Ave it is in East Ukrainian Village. Although over there it makes little difference. The parts of the neighborhoods (including Noble Square) two blocks or more in any direction are pretty much the same from the corner of Chicago and Ashland. The general area is not horrible (I would say it is fair), but to the south (of Grand specifically) it is more than a bit sketchy (many others that post here can confirm this.)
================================================== ========================================
If she is willing to live in the decent part (the north end) of West Town than she should be fine with Noble Square as well.

I would add Noble Square to the list also.

If the main hot neighborhoods are out of her price range, she won't exactly be slumming it in that area. Chicago/Ashland isn't the most scenic of intersections, but the side streets around there, especially Paulina/Chicago have a nice mix of beautiful old homes, elegant rebuilds with some ugly new homes and condos sprinkled in between.

So in W Town, would you just stay N of Grand? What would you say the "good" boundaries are for W Town? What about Noble Square?

Thanks again guys!!

1) For the most part yes.

2) Very generally north of Grand and east of Western. There are some pockets south of Grand that are ok as well as west of Western.

3) South of Augusta... North of Division.... This IMO... That is the best I can do. It is a bit difficult to describe the neighborhood. There is a large amount of government subsidized co-op residents in townhouses and a mid-rise near Division/Milwaukee/Ashland.

Just wanted to second Avenger's 3 points. I agree with them all. I really do think Ukie Village/West Town is the best bet for her.
