Places to rollerblade downtown?
I rollerbladed yesterday along the lake between the river and the Field museum area however the pavement kinda sucks for rollerblading. Much like the streets for driving, the bike / walking / skating paths are in disrepair. Anyone know of any good places to rollerblade with smoother pavement downtown?
Thanks

They usually fix it all by summer, but try heading North towards Belmont. Beyond North Ave Beach it should be smooth. Just remember to stay in your lane and look out for visitors - best to wear a helmet~and yell out "on your left" when necessary.

Rollerbladers take up way too much space on the bike path. It's annoying, and a little dangerous.

yea if you are using urithane you might want to check out some gell wheels. Much easier to cruise on rough surface...

It wasn't a bike path. More of a lake front path. More people walking then anything. There was a separate bike path along side it with even rougher pavement.
What are rollerbladers the bastard stepchild of recreation? No to walking paths, No to bike paths, I'll guess I'll go with the shoulder of the Kennedy Expressway, ya happy?

North of Burnham Harbor, beginning at Harbor Point (Lake Shore Drive and Illinois) the lake path and the bike path are the same! Walk/run lanes are on the outside and bike paths are in the center.
Bladers, however, end up in the bike path which makes the cyclists mad, becuase the walk/run paths are too narrow for bladers. Don't be so hostile! Chicago is a friendly city. Try running with Chicago Endurance Sports. Great group!
